Dear Jackson,
When you are older, and looking back thru these monthly letters, you will surely realize that I skipped the 8th month letter. I am so sorry Jaxy, we were days away from moving to Korea and it slipped my mind. Forgive me?
During this past month, you have really started to mature into more of a little boy and less of a baby. Oh, be sure, you are still my baby, but your face is getting bigger, you hair is just over your ears and collar and your limbs are longer.
When you were 7.5 months, you got your first bad cold. It came with a very bad cough that made it hardest for you in the morning and at night. I took you to two different doctor's and you had two different antibiotics, and it finally went away. A few days after you turned 8 months, that cold had its revenge and you ended up with a perforated ear drum and bad ear infection. Thankfully, you seem to be at 100% right now. I must say, you took sickness like a champ. You were always my happy baby boy.
The biggest change this past month has been our move to Korea. It had been 2.5 months since you had seen your father, and now that we have all been reunited, you have adjusted to him as if you were never apart. I worried you might think of him as a stranger, but silly me- you know no strangers, just friends. You love everyone and you've shown your father all of your best smiles and giggles easily.
Sleep wise, this month has been rough. You had been sleeping thru the night fairly well since 5 months, but with the 14 hour time difference and the jet lag effects, it was much like bringing home a newborn when we arrived in Korea. Things are close to being back on track, but some nights you cry out for me (once, twice, three times) and I'll go and nurse you back to sleep. I don't know how much longer you will nurse, so I cherish those moments, even if I am really really tired.
You are a great eater. You still have just the two bottom teeth you got at 6.5 months but you continue to enjoy chewing on everything. Your newest discovery is Gerber Pinwheels. They are big and round and fit easily in your hand. You love to eat those. You also love bananas, or any fruit really, and sweet potatoes and carrots. I need to start introducing more grown up foods (maybe black beans soon) because I know you'll likely love them too and continue to gobble them up.
You typically nap twice a day. Once for 1.5 hours (average) and once for more like 30 minutes in the evening as your pre-bedtime nap.
You are getting around really well by low-crawling. You havent made it up on your hands and knees yet (although you try very hard and occasionally rock back and forth like that), but you have great speeds just by pulling yourself around. You cross your legs at the calves and inch yourself forward.
You love to crawl after your sister. Whatever she is doing, you are interested. Chewing on her toys, watching her run around, you look up to her already.
Jackson, you are such a sweet happy baby. So quick to smile, so beautiful. Some people say you wont always be so sweet, but I can not believe that. You will always be my sweet little boy.
I love you Little Man,
Mama
OMG I can't believe he is 9 months already. Where did that time go?
You are adorable Jackson with a happy, loving family. You are such a lucky boy.
